Product description
The BMMTOOLS Series 5000 adapter is a robust coupling component that enables the mounting of trepan drill bits with a Weldon shank in machine tool chucks featuring a Morse taper (MK2, MK3 or MK4). This means that a single tool allows you to use core drills on bench drills, milling machines and machine tools fitted with a standard Morse taper — without the need to change the machine or the chuck.
The robust steel construction ensures high load-bearing capacity and excellent concentricity during drilling. This is particularly important when working with trepan drill bits, where precise guidance, smooth cutting and a long service life of the entire working system are essential.
Selected variants are available with internal cooling, which delivers coolant directly to the cutting zone. This solution reduces tool heating, improves chip evacuation and increases the service life of the drill bits during intensive use.
They are an excellent choice for workshop, metalworking and industrial applications — wherever a durable and secure clamping of core and trepan drill bits is required.
What is a Weldon shank?
The Weldon shank is a widely used standard for tool clamping in machining. The tool has a cylindrical shank with a flat recess (groove) into which the setting screw of the adapter or holder fits. This ensures a stable connection that is resistant to rotation, even under high torques.
The advantages of the Weldon shank include: reliable torque transmission, no risk of slippage, quick tool assembly and disassembly, and universal compatibility with a wide range of trepan drill bits available on the market.
Morse taper sizes — MK2, MK3 and MK4
The Morse taper (abbreviated to MK or MT) is an international standard for self-clamping tapered chucks used in drills, milling machines and lathes. Adapters are available in three sizes:
